yesterday, i posted about how we are to live in the freedom God has called us to. how we often let our pasts define us. we would rather stay bonded and enslaved in the past than to live in the freedom God has called us to.
it's often not an easy transition to make.
it requires us to not only leave our pasts behind.
it requires us to renew our minds in order to walk in a different perspective as we move forward.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. -Romans 12:2
When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become new creations.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! -2 Corinthians 5:17notice how it says, "the old has gone", not "the old is still hanging around even though the new is here". no, the old is gone.
but in order to live the way we are called to live, we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
the world may point to us and say we're still the same.
you may have people in your life that will bring you down.
the old temptations are still going to exist.
but the truth is, we're not the same.
once we have Christ in our hearts, we also have the Holy Spirit and the almighty power of God dwelling in us.
our pasts no longer matter.
we have a deeper strength to fight the temptations.
we are made strong and powerful.
Philippians 4:13 says
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.it's all about a renewal of our minds.
the slavery and chains of the past must be removed.
we should no longer justify it.
it should no longer have reign in our lives.
sin no longer reigns.
