it changes us.
if you had asked me two years ago what i wanted my legacy to be, it would've probably been something along the lines of "i want to be remembered for my attitude, my accomplishments, my (fill in the blank)"
...a lot of the personal pronoun "my" in that, don't ya think?
but now, i want it to be about the passion and love that i have for Christ.
...not me. but Christ who dwells in me.
there are a few books that i talk about and quote frequently and fervently.
In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day
The Purpose Driven Life
...and soon, I will add The Hole in Our Gospel to that list as well.
they are all powerful books about stepping out and displaying our faith - not because we have to, per se. but because we are no longer living for ourselves, but for CHRIST.
We are starting a new series at theWell, appropriately titled, "Radical".
it's about living out our faith.
The moment we make up our minds that we are going on with this determination to exalt God over all, we step out of the world's parade. (Tozer, The Pursuit of God)
our lives aren't meant to be lived for us! we can live self-centered, power-seeking, all-for-me lives, but we will never be truly fulfilled.
only when we truly step back from the mirror and see ourselves as we truly are -- flawed. broken. sinful -- can we see that we need something.
something bigger than us.
something stronger than us.
...but not just something. someone.
we need JESUS.
and when we realize that we are incomplete without Him and how He fulfills us, it drives us to show other how much HE fills us.
we will always have a God-shaped hole in us.
and when we look to Him to fill us, our lives are forever changed.
and that changes us to live radically for HIM.
it's the radical circle of life.
(but, seriously, if you haven't read Radical, you should - i challenge you, because it will change your life!)
